Lightning Bug Version 1.0.10 Contains Small Bug Fixes

We recently published a major release of Lightning Bug (version 1.0.9) that included some significant re-factoring to provide enhanced functionality. Unfortunately, we introduced a few bugs by accident! Version 1.0.10 is a quick release to address some issues. Here is a listing of what’s new in this version:

Major Rewrite of Lightning Bug Just Released To Android Market

We have just posted a major rewrite of Lightning Bug. We get a lot of emails asking for new scenes and features but some of the most pressings requests were to improve the power saving features. In the beginning we figured most people would use the application while it was plugged in, but it appears that this is not the case! So, in this release of Lightning Bug we set out to implement some very nice power saving features which we are proud to announce now exist.

Lightning Bug 1.0.8 released and includes system clock integration

Tonight we released Lightning Bug 1.0.8 to the Android Market. In addition to the internal alarm that we developed we have now integrated Lightning Bug with the Android system alarm clock. Lightning Bug 1.0.7 released but not “Just In” Android Market

This past Friday (11/20) we released Lightning Bug 1.0.7 to the Android Market. There are some good features in this new version so we would recommend that you upgrade when you get a moment. The most noticeable is that we added sounds to the Van de Graff scene and it now includes White Noise. We will say that one disappointing aspect of this release was that Lightning Bug didn’t show up under the “Just In” category. We have had some issues with the Android Market in the past and now there seems to be a lot of conversation around how to “game” the market. To be honest, we were just disappointed that it didn’t show up as we typically are able to introduce some new users to the application that would most likely not have specifically searched for it.

First Impressions of Google Analytics for Mobile Apps

If you’re like me, dutifully following updates from the Android Developers group and the Google Mobile Blog, you probably got excited last week that Google had quietly announced an analytics API giving Android and iPhone applications Google Analytics-esque metrics. And like you, I also immediately checked out the SDK documentation only to find the links it contained to the SDK download were giving back a 403! Serious Buzzkill!

Lightning Bug 1.0.6 Released!

Tonight we released Lightning Bug 1.0.6 to the Android Market. The application has had a sleep timer for quite some time but when activated it shuts off the visuals as well as all sounds. We have had several requests to leave the sounds running but turn off the screen at night. This latest version includes a separate Screen Timeout function that allows this to happen!
